My guess is that they are molting into winter plumage and have been preening to remove loose feathers and fix the new ones coming in.
I love their punk hairdo.
I agree, preening residue. I sure could use a Luka fix!
I guess yeah… cause I only see them at this time of year.
Sticky oil + down= messies.
Too much beer the night before will do that.
