There’s no stories today, no new birds or epiphanies; just this slightly snowy scene from the garden center down the street.
I was at the beach in short-sleeves just yesterday!
The snow didn’t stick, as I imagine the cold won’t. It doesn’t seem to get and stay cold until February anymore. Weird.
I’m thinking of giving everyone I love flowers for Christmas this year. You know those impossibly beautiful things that just exude sunshine and happy thoughts? The ones that I always appreciate so much but then forget to take care of?
😉
We hoped for snow last night but it didn’t come this low.
I think flowers sound delightful. I’d love some flowers as a gift from a student! Flowers rock. Orchids, maybe? Yum!
SHORT SLEEVES??
We’ve been below zero for a few days now….
I like this snow photo! You’ve managed to bring some color in to the snow scene. Cool!

I love the snow photo. I wish I could join the flock in New River this spring but finances want permit.I so enjoy your lovley blog.
Amazing how the temperatures have fluctuated this year. I easily identify with you as a fellow person who loves flowers but neglects to care for them properly. Purchasing cut flowers is a bit easier.
We’ve been fluctuating temps-wise here a lot. We got ice last night, but the day before it was in the upper 40s.
I was going to send you this for Christmas:

But when I went there I found that you had left a comment already. Curious that I didn’t get an email. Must be my good friends at Comcast at it again. [/sarcasm off]
No, I’ve not seen them at Rancocas, but I’ve seen them in the Pinelands at a number of spots.
So instead I’ll give you these:

No care needed.
Merry Christmas!
Here is a guy secret! Whenever Buny Lady says we need to give some lady a gift (a thank you, a sympathy, a birthday or holiday, …) if she asks me what I suggest, I just say “flowers” … arrangement, garden boquet, potted plant, potted bulbs, … has never failed me yet!!!!
Liza: Orchids would be lovely… my MIL is very good with them.
Lynne: Sorry for complaining.
😉
Carolyn: Thanks!
Yolanda: Thanks… too bad cause we’d love to have you!
NCMountainWoman: Cut flowers are nice, yeah. My greenish thumb is better practiced outdoors, though.
Delia: Hard to know what to wear, right?
Steve: Thanks!
That purple waterlily is gorgeous!
Those white orchid-looking flowers – a name?
(Makes me miss spring/summer wandering in the woods)
Rabbit’s Guy: I’d agree; flowers are almost always the best gift.
I’m glad you liked them.
White Fringed Orchid. I found them, and the Pikering’s Morning-Glory at Whitesbog. Wandering in the woods. 🙂
And you’re missing out on half the fun if you only go wandering in the spring and summer! (Although you’ll definitely see more flowers then.)
Steve: Pfft.
I’ve wandered there… and wandered.
(Trust me!)
Never found such a thing… or didn’t recognize them, at least.
There was an awful day — hot — loads of deer flies — looking for some yellow wildflowers that are supposed to blanket some hidden reservoir there — I walked for hours and gave up before I got lost.
I love the Pine Barrens, but need a much better map and someone who knows where to find the best spots for wildflowers.
😉
I’ve been to the hidden bog. Once. Think Webs Mill without the boardwalk and not as open. And it was the the day I took these images.
I got lucky and had two guides. I was there for a PINES class on carnivorous plants. And a friend and her friend invited me along as they went ‘planting’. I think I could find my way back … but getting lost is fun!
Lots of ticks. No flies.
The flowers were on the side of the road along the way. In plain sight. I didn’t get any good images of the bog though.
And I’m looking for a good Pinelands map too. If I find one I’ll let you know.
