Two favorites… white flowering dogwood and white lilacs (though they’re almost purple in bud.) I’ll say there’s nothing like a big vase full of floppy purple lilacs to scent a room… I love the white best in my garden.

Our dogwoods are all finished, I just love them!
Our lilacs are just about to bloom – finally. I think our whole yard will smell fragrant with them for some time!
That’s a pretty combination ..
I am planning to plant a dogwood in my yard. I have a lilac but it isn’t happy. I’m going to take it out and get something that will be happy. Life is too short for unhappy plants. 🙂
I agree with your choices of flowering plants for spring. We have a lovely white dogwood, and had a red one but it didn’t thrive. As for lilacs, I love them too. However, my husband has TERRIBLE spring allergies so I don’t dare bring things like lilacs in the house. So I just stand outside (in my neighbor’s yard) and breathe in the wonderful smell of lilacs.
White lilac is so beautiful. I’ve never been successful in growing it. I do have purple.
I love the whites, too, Laura. But the blues and purples light me up.
It has seemed to turn from spring to summer almost overnight! Stunning photo!
The crab apples are done….the wisteria is done…the forsythia is done….the daffodils never showed…. I routinely hold off on any gardening until my big Northern Ohio trip every year, and every year, I have a big gap in blooms in the yard. Dammit.
Ours are just blooming, and I love them. I wish I had a dogwood in the yard; I love every stage of that flowering.
Not sure why, but I have a thing for white flowers in spring.

Just me rambling about birds, books, bunnies, or whatever!
