I have no idea where this image is from or who took it, but it appeared like magic in my inbox today… thanks friend! (And please… click to enlarge!)
A few recent magical moments to share… Titmice singing their spring song during last week’s January thaw… A gorgeous sunset or two at Sandy Hook… The car windshield covered with those pretty frost flowers the other day…
What gifts from nature have you stopped to savor in the last couple days?
I saw a tree full of American Goldfinches at school today. So cool. And, the later in the day, I saw a Red-Tail landing in the top of a Redwood. Amazing! I saw a big flock of crows at school too. Lots of good things today!
WOW, what a glorious photo Laura! I saw three red shouldered hawks on the way home yesterday. Just looked up at different times on the journey home, and they were just there. And, saw a Phoebe at my cup feeder eating Zick dough… beautiful!
That IS a glorious photo. Actually, I haven’t seen a moment to savor today but something will pop up.
I got a really close-up view of the Sharp-Shinned Hawk in my backyard trying to catch a sparrow for a meal–the little hawk was about 15 feet away from me, trying to scare something from the brushpile. They’re amazing fliers!
Sometimes we just don’t stop and think about beauty in small things like …frost or a bird’s sweet song to us…but if lost to us we would then wonder why.
This is a beautiful photograph.
I savored the falling snow and the Female Cardinals.

So beautiful!
Thank you, Laura, for your answer to my question. It does sound like him.
That’s a once-in-a-lifetime beauty! And, I actually saw my first complete, double rainbow last fall, but couldn’t get the entire 180 into a picture.
So special when you know you’ve experienced something so rare.
Have you read any of Joseph Cornell’s “Listening to Nature?” I think you’d LOVE it–it’s right on the mark.
