One way to do it

Is it just me, or is this a very *guy* way to do things?

😉

It’s okay. I can make fun… he’s my friend and well, let’s just say this is typical behavior! Jimmy puts up the tree and all the lights in downtown Red Bank, so I guess he can take it back down any way he pleases.

Cracks me up too, to see another guy (Officer Pete) standing around supervising. Also typical!

So.. fess up guys! Looks like a fun approach to a depressing task, I think.

  1. I’m guessing he is not an employee of the city. That whole picture is a law suit waiting to happen. As a trained arborist, that is a very scary picture for me. No safety pants, hat, gloves, etc… And to top it off, he is standing on a ladder and chain sawing in a position that leaves him very vulnerable to getting kickback among other things. This would be a great picture for the OSHA classes I have to take. Sorry for the rant. I’ve seen too many people get killed or seriously hurt using chain saws.

  2. Has anyone put up a tree this big? It’s a pain in the arse. So… I figure it’s easier to just cut it up in little pieces rather than deal with getting 5 guys to help, rigging some kind of pully system and then manhandling it into a truck. More power to ‘im, dispense with the bureaucracy, including OSHA!

  3. omg, this is painful to see unless the tree is diseased! no humor here for me. ironic, isn’t it, to decorate a tree, celebrate it with ornaments and lights, and then kill it? i hope like kgmom that there was a good reason to take it down.

  4. Back to your take on this–yes, it IS a guy way–“just take out the power tools!” It is kinda scary, though, seeing him up there on that ladder holding such a powerful tool. I’m a power tool lover too, but I try never to do anything stupid so I keep all my fingers and eyes intact!

To me, slicing the tree into bits would make the task even more depressing. Maybe he was going to create a nice brushpile in his backyard with all those branches?
