Salty dog

What is it about being in a very public place that makes a puppy sooo prone to misbehave?

😉

Maybe it was all that seaweed he ate, but Luka was an absolute devil at the beach this afternoon! He had a grand time digging in the sand and darting off with clamshells in his mouth. He was so wild at one point I almost walked off and left him. You know how puppies get in that frantic mode where their ears stop working and they’re nothing but barks and snapping jaws – any bit of discipline just makes them worse.

I think maybe he was just cranky – his dinner was overdue and he’d missed his afternoon nap. He was snoring in the car on the drive home. He had a bath in the tub and then his dinner and now he’s sound asleep like a little angel curled up on his bed.

I’m not far behind.

  1. The joys of puppyhood are too much sometimes. LOL! Chloe & Bella always act up in social situations – just for a little while. It lets us know they have a zest for life!

Like children, they have dinner, get bathed and tucked into bed.

    I loved this post :o)

  2. You know how puppies get in that frantic mode…

You do realize that labradors have an EXTREMELY long puppyhood, right? Our 4-year-old still gets into that frantic mode from time to time, especially near water!

  3. I’ve just sent a link to this post to my mom. She’s got a young Dalmatian and it acts so crazy that she sometimes thinks there is something wrong with it. lol.

  4. Yes, Laura. A good friend of mine had two labs. We called those periods of frenzied action “FRAPS”. Chloe and the two labs would run full speed in circles like they had lost their minds. We held our breath while we watched… Sorry, I gotta laugh. Bella still has those moments.

  5. oh, I know the feeling. I was taking my two dogs to a parade this weekend, and we got about 5 houses down the street and I already knew they were not going to behave. One of them even squirmed out of her collar. Sigh. Well, I marched those bad pups home and proceeded to the parade on my own.

It is a darned good thing this critters are so cute…I can relate to wanting to leave the beach without Luca!
